Reader Interview / Joyce Bingham

Joyce Bingham

What would you love to see in the submissions?

I’d love to see some speculative fiction. I’d like to see this form used to show an understanding of what it’s like to be human. To bring out nuances I’d never considered before, I want to be entranced.

What is your superpower?

I’m a plant whisperer. Don’t ask me how I do it, I have no idea, it just happens. Plants of all sorts seem to make it into my writing too, often having to be pruned before the final draft. I also have a strange sense of humour.

What is your writing process?

Ideas are not my problem. However, they don’t often arrive in the right order and they need to be scribbled down and left to ripen like a good cheese. It can feel like a marathon, with the amalgamation of scribbles. Then some days a story seems to magically arrive fully formed, but really is been on my mind for a while and just needed a prompt to bring it out.
